I have finally finished my website!!! I was able to add most of the elements to the webpage that my client asked for, that most suited the mosaics webpage.
The website has got bright colours, images of the clients work, links to other websites, internal links to webpages, rollover buttons and much more. I am quite pleased with the outcome of my website and I'm sure my client will be with the end result. My client has been extremely helpful in providing content and giving me feedback through various stages as well as everybody else who gave me feedback.

Only 1 week to go and I am determined to reach the deadline. I have finished all the main parts of the webpage and now just have to check all of the links and add extra little things that will compliment the web site. Next week will be my last blog!

Term 4, week 5

This week, was all about looking at the feedback that I received from the people who have reviewed the website and have suggested changes that I should make in order to make the website better. I changed a couple of elements and added things such as scroll down bars to pages with a lot of context. I have a few finishing touches to make to the website before it gets to the distinction grade that I want. I will make these changes before the deadline and see if I can get some more feedback from those who my website has been made for. I already have feedback from my teacher and my client. Today I received the feedback from my client in which I used to make my work a little better, such as adding a background from a site called Textures. Because I have not much more to do with in the website I am looking for ideas to higher my grade: even though I don't know what it is at the moment. I shall find out in the week, what level I am working at as Mr Hill will be reviewing my work. Lets see what he says and then I'll go from there.

Well, in this lesson today I focused on the gallery page, which I still don't think I have enough content for and the contact us page, where I added a map to the location of the business. I did add some elements to all the pages such as a link to allow the pages to go back to the top and indenting the writing to make the pages look a little bit better. Again I emailed my client and hopefully by the end of the week I will have sent her the website screen prints. I spoke to Mr Hill (my website teacher) about how I can better my website. He gave me a few ideas but will give me an official feedback sheet hopefully next week.

Today I concentrated mainly on the Gallery page. On the page I displayed most of the images of the worked that has been produced by my clients company. I also checked the context and added some effects such as scrolling marquee. I am also looking to get some free Java applets from the web because I feel that it will add that little bit of edge to the website. Because I have been working on the website for a long time what's on it, is looking boring to me so next week I looked to get it reviewed by Mr Hill and send some screen prints to my client to see what she thinks.

Today I finally put in the context that my client sent me just yesterday. At first there was a problem with opening the document as it was created in Open office format which is a free program, created by Sun Micro systems. Now that the context is in, the website looks more full bodied.
Every time that I want something new on every page all I have to do is put the elements into my template page and every page will be updated with the changes.

I also created another logo today, changed some elements of the website buttons and started to crop more of the images to go onto the gallery page.
Next week I shall have more pictures to put in so I will concentrate on cutting them down to size and making them look good for the page.
Its starting to look like a proper website now...yes!!!

Term 3, week 9

Today I saved my template as a template for all of the pages. I also created all of the pages and started to add content to my home page. I also created a logo and made changes to the colours of the website and the colours of the main heading "angels mosaics".
Unfortunately my client hasn't sent me the context that I should have had by week commencing 25th February so I am concentrating on finishing the graphics that I am going to put into the website. I have programs at home in which I can do this so will do over half term. I will also be talking to my client about the whereabouts of the CONTEXT, so I can have it ready for term 5.
So far I have:

Created some graphics such as the buttons and heading

Created a set template as the base of each page

Started to add in that I do have onto pages

I still have much to do!!!

Term 3, week 8

Today I was able to get alot done. My client sent back to me some of the documents I asked her to send back to me with most things the she would like to include in the website. What was also useful was that she sent me an email saying that she has chosen design 1 with extra elements that she has added such as a border. She also highlighted colours, fonts and that she wants and mentioned that the context is on its way!!!

Buttons! Buttons! Buttons! Today I tried to creatively create buttons out of the photographs of my clients work that she sent me and I still didn't make any that I was satisfied with. Also the program that is closest to Adobe Photoshop that I prefer to use is Adobe Illustrator which the school doesn't have so I may have to create the buttons at home and bring them in. I then tried to create the heading "Angels Mosaics" but that didn't quite work out either. Hopefully next week things will go better!!!

Today because we didn't have a lesson, I decided to check everything I did have for making the website. Once I did that I emailed my client confirming things and telling her where I am at now and what I will be needing next. Because I have some assets I will start to make a logo and button samples for my client to choose from. This I will do next week!!!!!!!

This week I used a website called Cornershop to create the corners for design4 that I started to create in Macromedia Dreamweaver last week. I created the corners in the colours that my website client agreed with me (Purple and Lilac) and then put them in the cells that I made last week. To close the gaps between the corners and columns and rows I set the cell pads to 0.
Hopefully this is the template my client chooses so that when the time comes to put in the content, the template will be finished.

I emailed my client today to let her know where I am at with creating this website.
My client up to this point has sent me some assets (images etc) and also the names of the pages that she would like me to create. The next step for her is to send me the contexts for each page.

Next week I'm going to concentrate on creating the buttons and extra graphics for the website such as the logo.

Today I spent the whole of the lesson designing templates for my client to choose from. I managed to create 4 designs: 2 simple and 2 complicated. the complicated ones were to do with creating round edges for the website.

Today I left my investigating pre-existing sites to concentrate on planning the content for the website.
I visited a few sites to see what pages came up the most and looked at contents on each of the pages. The pages that came up on almost every website were:

Links

In my document I wrote down the things that I would put on these pages.
I am still in the process of gathering assets. Next week I will start to create different templates for my client to choose from for the website.

Today was to do with building the foundations for our website by gathering basic information about the client and their business to email to Mr Hill.

After I did this I decided to Investigate pre-existing creativity sites that include some of the content similar in my clients business. I created a document in word including screen prints and relevant information such as bandwidth of these websites looking at elements that I could use in the website that I will make.

Happy New Year!!!

In this first lesson back we were given a chance to add the last elements to assignment 2, which I managed to hand in on time at the end of the lesson. I had done most of the work over Christmas which was extremely wise (that of which my name means "wise one") so I was able to take my time and do the rest of what was required.

Next week we will be moving on to creating a website for a client. I have already got a client lined up and will try to gather a few details as to what she would like on the site so that I will have some information, ready to start next lesson.

This is the part of the subject that I have been looking forward to doing.

Today was all about assignment 2, together we went through a couple of the questions and wrote down some of the criteria for the assignment. I stayed along with some others in class through our break to speak to Mr Hill so that I could further my understanding of what was required to be done.

In class today Mr Hill reminded us about the 4 assignments we have to do throughout the course, 2 written, 2 practical. We also looked at how to judge for an overall grade in this unit.

Before this lesson I knew how to get to the Unit 54 support web site from home because Mr Hill told me at lunch time. Instead of going the long way through the Brit School website to access the page from home I'll just put it in my Blog, so Click here to view it.

During our practical work I did all this work below:
Free Java Applets: downloaded free Java applets and saved them into my w drive so that I could place them on my site. When I viewed this it worked so I added a few more Java applets which you can also see on the site.
In Paint Shop Pro today I created my own rollover buttons to put on my site.

What I did today was:

Further used Aplets
Looked at Xara 3D: In this I created an animation. Saved it in the W drive so that I could view it in a page and then made changes in Xara to my satisfaction. After this I exported again the end product so that it could be viewed on a webpage.
Loaded consultscroll-text.txt to add to our website template I copied the code into my author webpage and in html view it shows scrolling text and I changed the background colour in code to make it the same colour as my web page.

Term 2, week 3

This list below is everything that I have learn' t to put into a web page to make it accessible to alot of people.

Nul and zero are different.
Never forget to use the Alt tag this is useful for not excluding blind people.
Always use Arial font as everybody has Arial on their computer.
Keep screen to 780 pixels as the highest resolution on computers is 800 pixels.
Big writing so that partially blind people can see.
No confusing colours as not to confuse people who are colour blind.

Today also I created a 6 page web site. I have used Macromedia before so it wasn't too difficult. I was able to hyperlink to all of the pages, hyperlink every page back to the index page and hyperlink to the BRIT school web site.

Term 2, week 2

Last week I started my animation GIF and today like I said I would do in Animation shop I stitched my frames together.
Then using copy and paste I repeated my frames to the end so that my animated GIF of my name would move in and out.
Once finished I saved my animation in the W: drive added the name of my animation to the end of my website address and then linked it to my blog.

Once again for almost the whole lesson Mr Hill talked and talked and I HATE that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Term 2 Week 1

Todays lesson consisted of finishing things off (even though I didn't need to do this) and handing work in-Assignment 1.
The interesting part of the lesson came when I got the chance to create my own animation GIF in Animation Shop. The animated GIF was of my name and in Paint Shop Pro I made my frames. Next week I'll stitch my frames together to complete the animation. Then I'll create a link to allow you to see it.

MediaMaster

Todays lesson involved a check list in which I made sure that I have completed everything for this term. I spent most of the lesson making sure that everything was done and in the last part of the lesson completed number 25 on the list which was to upload a player widget from MediaMaster. This is the widget below. If you click on it you can play music from the albums.

Before I uploaded this I had to sign up to MediaMaster which is a music site that allows you to reach your music from anywhere with Internet Access.

Today in class I used a programme called Firefox. From this programme we accessed all the other programmes that we used today such as Picassa and My Blog. In Picassa I created a photo album of which, I then created a slide show including all of the images that I uploaded to my U_drive. You can see the slide show when you view my blog. Also today I uploaded a video to add to my blogger. This is the screen below.

Also today I published a video from YouTube under the Brit School. A video called "Promo". This you can see on my blog also.
I now have an iGoogle account and have already started to personalise it.

Today in my web lesson I was taught a lot about how the Internet has progressed over many years. It has improved in the way in which it works, including how quickly it runs.
This was included in researching information for Assignment 1.
For assignment 1 I need to research information on digital communication systems, such as http (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) and Bluetooth.
The lesson was cut short because of open evening so for homework, my task is to finish assignment 1.

I have finally settled into college and today in my Web Design lesson I customised my blog even more: I changed the colours, added some new page elements and added some images to my blog. One image was of the Brit School and the other was the title that I am using for my blog that I inserted from my documents.
I invited somebody to contribute to my blog. Next time they use it, they'll be a contributer.

My blog is starting to look really good and I am pleased with it!!!

Also today I created a google account (at first which I had problems with because I put in the wrong email address.) I created a short presentation about the service. This was very quick and easy to do. I have published my presentation so that you can view it here.

My first week at College!

Well, my first week at college was not too hectic because I spent most of my time waiting around. I was fine with these though because it gave me a chance to make friends and have a wonder around so that I could start to familiarise myself with the surroundings.

My form teachers name is Mr Preston and i'm in form class 12JPr.
